Well, this has been an interesting last few days. Between server crashes, assignment deadline push-backs, paper duedates, I've found myself with lots to do, not enough to do, worrying about nothing, and whatnot.
Nonetheless, I went to a concert last night. Not just any concert, mind you, the Dear Friends, Final Fantasy concert! I could do a really lengthy review of it, but I really don't know how I'd describe it and do it justice. I was speechless immediately afterwards and I still don't know really what to say. Suffice to say, it was awesomeness on a level that I can only hope to experience again...
Ok, I'll try...
From the opener of "Liberi Fatali" to the "surprise" encore closer of "One winged Angel" (wasn't on the program, but we all knew it was coming :-P), it certainly was a night full of music to remember. As an avid fan of VG music, it was unbelievable to actually hear these pieces that I have come to love be performed live and so well done. Though there were a few too many lyrical, slow pieces and quite a few pieces I didn't recognize (that's what I get, I guess, for not playing 5 or 9), it was still absolutely breathtaking. Perhaps the biggest sign of Uematsu's music's timelessness is the fact that I was able to not only tolerate, but absolutely enjoy "Love Grows" from FF8, one of the most overrated pieces in VG musicdom.
You haven't lived til you've heard One-Winged Angel performed with a live chorus, it sent chills through my skin.
If you are a fan of FF music and this tour comes by your hometown, I strongly urge you to go for a night of music you may never forget.
Anyways, aside from that little number, I guess things are going well. Trying to get work done on time, sleep well, and still have fun on the side. Go bears?
Hopefully Marine World this weekend? We'll see, I suppose...
Quote of the day: "Man, this place is AWESOME!! It's been voted like, Best Sandwich place in Berkeley like.....FIVE AND HALF DECADES IN A ROW!!.........course, I've only been going here for like 2 weeks..." -some really crazy random black dude who was eating at Cheese & Stuff, just announcing it to the world
