This is a post about The Amazing Race. Skip to the end if you don't care.

Anyone who knows me and my TV watching habits happens to know that I absolutely adore The Amazing Race (read some past entries to get somewhat of an idea). It is by far the most competetive of the reality shows, the most interesting, certainly the most exciting, and has some of the most beautiful shots that can be found on TV, thanks to the wondeful locales it visits. It is also the only reality show that I would ever try out for. Having said that, recent editions of the race have been slowly eroding the magic of the show for whatever reasons. Perhaps it all started in season 3, when the most undeserving team by far somehow managed to scrape by and cross the finish line in first. Season 4 had a very entertaining team of clowns, and really little else. Season 5 was a return to glory and even had some of the most spectacular locales the race had seen so far, but season 6 really brought the race to a new low. Due to poor casting decisions and the unfortune of having the better teams eliminated in the first half of the race, as well as relatively uninteresting locales and tasks, it left a bitter taste in many long-time viewer's mouths (although ratings were at an all-time high).

Having said that, the race is back. boy howdy, it's back. Seriously. This show has always been dependent on two things: entertaining racers and awesome locations/tasks. I've been tired of all these 20-something attractive boy-girl dating couples that seem to have filled up recent seasons. This season strikes me as a throwback to the older days, more "best friends" teams, siblings, and the triumphant return of the gay team (even though they are drama queens)! Plus, Rob and Amber. I was reeeeally worried that they'd try to steal the show when I heard they were racing. Ironically, my worries turned out to be true, but there was no reason to be worried! Sure they are spotlight hogs, but they are running a really awesome race and entertaining as fuck! I'd hate for them to be double reality show winners, on principle alone, but really, they are among my favorite teams this year. I hope they go far.

My race is back, and I can't wait to see more. With any luck, this'll turn out to be one of the best seasons yet.

In other news, CS162 is crap, but I did well on the midterm. Also, I almost overslept for my 1PM class today. Go me.....

  • Haha... I wouldn't have believed it. You were serious when you said "get back into the habit of blogging"

I thought by that you would do what you used to do: update every other... month...
