OK, so I haven't updated in hellza days.
Yeah, i suck.
But in the midst of studying for finals and wasting time reading other people's blogs/xangas/livejournals, it occured to me that maybe I should actualy write in mine.
I mean, it's been so long, and so much has happened to me. But it's really not worth getting into the little details. Let's just catch up on the major events.
The whole "college" thing:
It's been a lotta fun, makin new friends, meeting new people, doin new stuff. Really, college is awesome, and there's no two ways about it. But it's sometimes hard to tell with the academic ass-kicking I've been receiving as of late. It was definitely a transition from high school to college, they're two entirely different beasts. However, there's a lot of good stuff wherever you go. For anyone reading this and next year's incoming freshman, I can only say this: FIND SOMETHING TO GET INVOLVED IN! Anything!! AT all!! It'll definitely make the transition a helluva lot easier and fun. I can honestly say I don't know where I'd be right now without CalBand (more on that later), just to have a place I can belong, it's incredible.
On roommates:
Well, Andre and I have been more or less getting at each others throats, then laughing about it the next minute. It's sure been an interesting time living with the big guy. The other guy, Adam, on the other hand is a different beast. Eerily similar to myself in many aspects, yet entirely abrasive. Haha, funny guy. He and I get along pretty well. It's an interesting dynamic, the three of us. At least, it would be if we weren't always so pissed at each other ^_^. Nah, it's good stuff.
On floormates:
What can I say? The floor is an interesting mix of people from all walks of life. I really like the floor dynamic we've got goin. Awesome people, awesome friends. It's a good thing.
Class:
Eh, classes have been more or less a joy and the most hearstabbing pain I've ever felt in my life. It's kinda interesting. Started off the year eager about math (the professor seemed like one of those interesting/intriguing types) and absolutlely dreading AsianAm Studies and the workload that waited for me. Yet, now that the semester is over, I find myself missing my AsianAm buddies and can't wait for math to be over. Korean? I was indiffernet to the experience, but Im gonna try to avoid 8am classes from now on. And CS61a.....Scheme, my friend, I never thought I'd see the day when I saw you as a viable programming language, and yet here we are. I can honestly say I learned a lot from that class, even though I might not be able to remember it all. Good/bad times. Who knows, if I can pull off the grades, maybe I can make it as a CS major after all.
CalBand:
Oh baby. Here's where it gets interesting. Without a doubt, the single most awesome thing I've ever been involved in at Cal, and quite possibly my life. I wasn't sure what to expect when joining, but I definitely didn't expect the feeling of pride/joy/spirit/honor I do now. It's been a fantastic season, and I honestly can't wait for more. AND I can't wait to get involved! (i just hope i have enough time for that!) Meeting so many new awesome people, experiencing things for the first time, actually having pride in my school for once ^_^, what else is there to say? CalBand has definitely changed me, for the better, and I'll never forget these times, but I'm looking forward to more. Cal Band great!
Keeping in touch:
Something I haven't been doing too well. Whaddup, my NG posse. I miss y'all. We gotta do some stuff this winter break, I'm serious.
Anyways, that's all I have to say for now. I know I've been saying this like all along, but hopefully I'll do a better job updating this piece of shit. it's nice therapy, and a nice break. Til next time.
