Yesterday was a very sad day....Korea was unceremoniously ejected from the World Cup in a 1-0 loss to Germany. I am dissapointed, but I am also proud of my nation's soccer team's accomplishments. To go from not-even-scoring-one-goal to top 4 in a single world cup is a tremendous leap. I'm glad that we were able to go so far, and I look forward to next World Cup, when Korea will go all the way! Also yesterday, I finally got my program to work properly. Hooray!! There is only one small feature to add in. After that, all that will be left to do is to add comments, and I'll be set for this week.

Yesterday, I also sat down to watch one of my favorite shows on TV right now: "The Mole". As I said before (for explanation on game mechanics, see June 5 entry), The Mole is one of the most clever shows on righ t now. There are so many different levels to it and so many different ways to play the game that it is extremely difficult to keep track of everything. You can try to play the game as it was meant to be played and try to earn the most money for the group while looking out for the mole and simply play the game with honesty, or you can try to cast suspicion on yourself and lead people to think that you are the mole, thus making them choose the wrong answers on the quiz, or you could simply look out for youself and do whatever it takes to get exemptions, which allow you to be safe from being executed (even though you still have to take the quiz), but they usually involve screwing over the team somehow. For example, last night, there were two major games being played for $30,000 each. One involved a relay race of sorts that invovled carrying a greased-up gnome lawn ornament through town while completeing various tasks and eventually passing it on to the next player (total of 3 players). If the gnome broke, they would lose the game and the $30,000. However, certain clues from earlier in the morning suggested that perhaps breaking the gnome (whether intentional or not) would earn that player an exemption. In the other game, the other players not involved in the gnome game staged a gladiator battle. One player was Caesar and the other players were her (it was a girl) guards and had to protect her from an oncoming group of 5 gladiators. However, one player, unbeknownst to the other players, was given a choice. He was designated as Brutus, and at the end, if he chose to betray the entire team and be the last person standing on the field and "slay" Caesar, he would be given an exemption. Choices, choices. It's difficult, because you want to stay in the game, and an exemption will guarantee you that, but will it be worth it to potentially piss everyone off for the rest of the game and lose potential money for the pot? As the game continues and more people are executed (we're about halfway through here), I have a feeling that the game will get even more devious and the decisions will get harder. And of course, the question on our minds....WHO I S THE MOLE??

In response to Glendon's blog, i have to agree that American TV has gotten too "me too" these days. The clones of Millionaire that popped up a few years ago were laughable at best. Greed actually wasn't such a bad show, but the rest were just plain BS. Winning Lines....TwentyOne...i think there was one that lasted like one day called "It's the Chance of a Lifetime", or something like that. Ha, and it's funny how they all bit the dust so quickly. Then Survivor popped up, was a smash hit, and spawned reality show cloned of its own. Although some of these are actually pretty good shows (The Amazing Race, The Mole), a lot of them are really really dumb (Big Brother, Boot Camp, Fear Factor). It's also funny to note that The Mole is actually an imported format from Denmark.

Movies I want to see this summer:
Minority Report, Men in Black 2, Austin Powers: Goldmember, Lilo and Stitch (surprisingly), Scooby Doo (looks similar to Brady Bunch movie, how it was making fun of the show).........................and the Powerpuff Girls Movie. Yes, I have joined the ranks of people who enjoy the Powerpuff girls. It is a surpisingly entertaining show. One of the few American cartoons that I've actually been impressed with

Well, in between writing this blog, i've managed to fix my program. Hooray. Guess I'll get something to eat...
